You can break it in all sorts of ways, but the world is worth investing in and getting past all that for. There’s honestly so much to love here, and I can’t wait to see what the final game ends up looking like.įinally, I just want to put it out there that there are a lot of glitches in this demo. The game has a lot that intrigues you and makes you want to dive in deeper, and that’s what’s pushed me to keep playing far past the point when I got stuck or found the gameplay too challenging. There are factions in the game that are fleshed out enough that they feel like part of the world, and you’re always wanting to learn more about them. The last thing that I should mention is the faction system. It’s a fascinating game that really does push the boundaries of the genre, and I’m really here for it. Along the way, you’ll make decisions that have a meaningful impact on gameplay, meaning you’ll see a totally different situation depending on what you do or say. The game has a story, and a deep story at that, for you to follow. This means that gameplay resembles that of the Dark Souls franchise, it even has a bonfire mechanic, but it’s also much more than that. I honestly can’t wait to play this title when it finally launches, and that wouldn’t have been the case otherwise. While there’s text out of place, item descriptions missing, and all sorts of other issues, if you look past them, there’s a really promising game staring back at you here. It gives you a really decent chunk of the game to play, though it is very much an early build of what’s to come. The game won’t be out until 2022, but at the time of writing there’s a demo available as part of the ID Xbox event. While the gameplay controls are easy with on-screen prompts that correspond to your keyboard/mouse set-up, decision making plays a bigger factor while playing The Last Oricru.I’ve been playing an absolute tonne of The Last Oricru recently. Is this Ratkin speaking the truth, and Tobias has a vendetta against another race? Or should Silver remain compliant, knowing that these species should be eradicated while putting the rats in a slavery cage? All of this hinges on your selected answers, which will determine the relation between both species and individuals. Until the assignment that was given to him, and an encounter with Gok, the vermin blacksmith. Yet, Silver was addressed as “The Last Oricru”, and Tobias was nothing like the supposed horror stories that defines his reputation. This answer was soon revealed, as Silver meets the man who is about to commence his training. But why does everyone talk about a certain Akin Tobias? Then again, nothing else looks human in this realm, save for Brian and Petra who are here for the same purpose as Silver. Silver is first greeted by Maltis, Patriach of the Keepers who looks like an ancestral Voldermort.

After all, he could barely remember his name, aside from what was given on the Crystem. While your actual journey begins in a suspiciously fabricated medieval realm, there is little time for protagonist Silver to think about such oddities. Sporting a weak story, insufferable protagonist, and barebones souls-like systems, The Last Oricru does not bring anything new to the genre. Strong presentation and performance are enough to get you in the door, but lack any significant development throughout the 10+ hour playtime. Imagine living in a Matrix-like simulation, cognizant of your surroundings but only to be plunged back into dark medieval times courtesy of… an alien? Who is this Lady in the Lake that could possibly be that talking head in a dream sequence? It will take a while for you to piece that information together (just like our protagonist), but welcome to the past/future dimension of The Last Oricru.įorged by development power of GoldKnights, heartbeat pulsating through Unreal Engine 4 and brought into existence thanks to Prime Matter and Plaion, The Last Oricru is an action-based RPG game that has strong elements of storytelling, vindicated by various decision making crossroads. The Last Oricru just can’t seem to make up its mind.
